Fundacja „Ogrody Muzyczne" powstała w 2002 roku z myślą o udostępnieniu kultury wysokiej szerokim kręgom odbiorców, zwłaszcza przy wykorzystaniu możliwości jakie dają najnowsze techniki audiowizualnego. 

Jej założyciele - menedżer kultury i reżyser Ryszard Kubiak, kompozytor i pianista Zygmunt Krauze oraz producentka telewizyjna i promotorka baletu Barbara Pietkiewicz - ideę tę wypróbowali, organizując w roku 2001 I Festiwal „Ogrody Muzyczne", na który złożyły się pokazy wybitnych, audiowizualnych realizacji słynnych oper, baletów, jak również filmów muzycznych. Prezentacje odbyły się w ogromnym namiocie, mieszczącym ponad 1000 widzów, specjalnie wybudowanym na Dziedzińcu Zamku Królewskiego w Warszawie.

Od czasu pierwszej edycji Festiwal, nazwany przez prasę „letnim salonem muzycznym Warszawy", „rozkwita" każdego lata na Dziedzińcu Zamku Królewskiego w Warszawie, w turystycznym sercu stolicy Polski, przyciągając każdego roku ok. 40-50 tysięcy widzów. Wspomniane wyżej wytyczne programowe festiwalu wzbogaca cykl filmowy Opisanie świata, którego zamierzeniem jest prezentacja cywilizacyjnego i kulturowego dorobku ludzkości oraz spotkania publiczności z wybitnymi przedstawicielami polskiej kultury. Spośród ok. 100 nazwisk festiwalowych gości warto wymienić: Magdalenę Abakanowicz, Grace Bumbry, Krystynę Jandę, Marię Fołtyn, Olgę Pasiecznik, Elżbietę Penderecką, Ewę Podleś, Katię Ricciarelli, Janusza Głowackiego,  Ryszarda Kapuścińskiego, Kazimierza Kutza, , Władysława Kłosiewicza, Rafała Olbińskiego Andrzeja Wajdę , Krzysztofa Zanussiego  i innych.

Coraz istotniejsze miejsce zajmuje także muzyka na żywo, początkowo kojarzona z towarzyszącym festiwalowi cyklem kameralnych koncertów muzyki współczesnej Passage. W roku 2004 gwiazdą festiwalu była Katia Ricciarelli. Od kilku lat festiwalem zainteresowani są najwybitniejsi polscy soliści i orkiestry (Sinfonia Varsovia, Narodowa Orkiestra Symfoniczna Polskiego Radia (NOSPR) pod dyr. Kazimierza Korda, Filharmonia Narodowa). Organizatorzy dbają, by koncerty muzyki na żywo były wzbogacane, zgodnie z audiowizualnym charakterem festiwalu, o element multimedialny. Warto tu wymienić takie projekty jak Gala Polskiej Muzyki Filmowej, Chopinowi Duda-Gracz, w którym muzyce Chopina towarzyszą projekcje obrazów znanego malarza czy animowany film Piotruś i wilk z muzyką Prokofiewa wykonywaną na żywo przez orkiestrę.  

Fundacja w ramach upowszechniania kultury muzycznej dba również o edukację dzieci i młodzieży.

W roku 2005 podczas festiwalu zorganizowała dwutygodniowy mistrzowski kurs wokalny z udziałem wybitnej śpiewaczki Grace Bumbry. Artystka wybrała sześcioro młodych śpiewaków, z którymi pracowała przez 2 tygodnie. Odbyła z nimi lekcję pokazową, otwartą dla publiczności oraz wzięła udział w koncercie finałowym.  

Spośród dotychczasowych siedmiu wyjątkowych projektów festiwalowych warto wspomnieć o Ogrodach Muzycznych Europy 2004 oraz Festiwalu Wiedeń w Ogrodach Muzycznych 2006, współrealizowanym z okazji Roku Mozartowskiego z Wiener MozartJahr i EuroArts.  

Od roku 2005 Festiwal Ogrody Muzyczne jest finansowany w dużej mierze ze środków M.St. Warszawy jako jedna z trzech wielkich imprez muzycznych (obok Wielkanocnego Festiwalu im. Ludwiga van Beethovena i Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Muzyki Współczesnej „Warszawska Jesień"), z którą Warszawa pragnie się identyfikować.

W przygotowaniu Festiwalu Fundacja współpracuje z najważniejszymi polskimi instytucjami kultury oraz organizacjami tego rodzaju na całym świecie, m.in. dystrybutorami programów muzycznych. Od roku 2006 Fundacja „Ogrody Muzyczne" jako druga  Telewizji Polskiej SA instytucja w Polsce należy do IMZ International Music + Media Centre, światowej organizacji skupiającej producentów i dystrybutorów programów muzycznych, baletowych i teatralnych.

Odrębną aktywnością edukacyjną fundacji jest projekt Dziecięce Ogrody Muzyczne, którego celem jest pobudzenie artystycznego potencjału u najmłodszych i edukacja przez sztukę. Program ten realizowany jest pod auspicjami m. st. Warszawy. Odbywa się zarówno podczas festiwalu, jak i zimą, w okresie ferii szkolnych.  Dotychczas wzięło w nim udział kilka tysięcy dzieci. 

Obok Festiwalu Ogrody Muzyczne, Fundacja jest organizatorem pojedynczych, znaczących wydarzeń artystycznych.

W roku 2002  zorganizowała wspaniałą, monumentalną  realizację opery George'a Gershwina Porgy and Bess z udziałem chórów gospel i znakomitych amerykańskich solistów w Sali Kongresowej, największej sali estradowej Warszawy.

1 października 2006 roku z okazji Międzynarodowego Dnia Muzyki zorganizowała koncert Orquesta Sinfonica de Navarra z Pampeluny, najstarszej hiszpańskiej orkiestry symfonicznej w Filharmonii Narodowej w Warszawie.

Oprócz pracy nad następną edycją letniego Festiwalu Ogrody Muzyczne, Fundacja pracuje nad projektami chopinowskimi w związku ze zbliżającą się w roku 2010 dwusetną rocznicą urodzin kompozytora. 

Ryszard Kubiak, założyciel Fundacji, jest też autorem projektu utworzenia Narodowego Archiwum Muzyki i Obrazu, którego celem byłoby dbanie o audiowizualną rejestrację wybitnych polskich produkcji operowych, baletowych oraz koncertów.  

La Fondation „Ogrody Muzyczne" [fr.: Jardins musicaux] est née en 2002 afin de propager la haute culture parmi de vastes cercles de destinataires, notamment au moyen des transmissions audiovisuelles. 

Les créateurs de la Fondation, Ryszard Kubiak, administrateur de culture et metteur en scène, Zygmunt Krauze, compositeur et pianiste, ainsi que Barbara Pietkiewicz, productrice de télévision et promotrice du ballet, ont mis l'idée directrice de la Fondation à l'épreuve en organisant, en 2001, le I^er Festival „Ogrody Muzyczne". C'était une occasion de présenter des réalisations audiovisuelles des opéras fameux et des ballets remarquables ainsi que des films musicaux. Les présentations ont eu lieu sous une énorme tente, capable d'accueillir plus de mil spectateurs, construite spécialement à l'occasion du Festival dans la cour du Château royal à Varsovie.

Depuis la première édition, le Festival, reconnu par la presse comme „salon musical d'été à Varsovie", fleurit chaque été dans la cour du Château royal à Varsovie, coeur de la vie touristique de Pologne, attirant chaque année de quarante à cinquante mils spectateurs. Les idées directrices mentionnées plus haut sont à cette occasion enrichies par le cycle des filmes Opisanie świata [fr.: Description du monde] dont l'objectif concerne la présentation de l'héritage culturel de l'humanité ainsi que les rencontres des spectateurs avec des personnages éminents du monde de la culture polonaise. Parmi une centaine de personnages célèbres invités au Festival, il faut remarquer notamment la présence de Magdalena Abakanowicz, Grace Bumbry, Krystyna Janda, Maria Fołtyn, Olga Pasiecznik, Elżbieta Penderecka, Ewa Podleś, Katia Ricciarelli, Janusz Głowacki,  Ryszard Kapuściński, Kazimierz Kutz, Władysław Kłosiewicz, Rafał Olbiński, Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussi et beaucoup d'autres.

La musique performée au vif occupe une place de plus en plus importante, associée au début au cycle de concerts de musique de chambre contemporaine Passage, accompagnant le Festival. En 2004, c'est Katia Ricciarelli qui était vedette du Festival. Depuis quelques années, les solistes et les orchestres polonais les plus remarquables s'intéressent au Festival (Sinfonia Varsovia, Narodowa Orkiestra Symfoniczna Polskiego Radia [fr. : Orchestre symphonique nationale de la radio polonaise] sous la direction de Kazimierz Kord, Philharmonie nationale). Les organisateurs du Festival veillent à ce que les concerts de musique au vif soient enrichis, conformément au caractère audiovisuel du Festival, par l'élément multimédia. Ainsi, il faut mentionner à cette occasion les projets tels que Gala Polskiej Muzyki Filmowej [fr. : Gala de la musique polonaise de film], Chopinowi Duda-Gracz [fr. : Duda-Gracz pour Chopin], où la musique de Chopin était accompagnée des peintures de cet artiste célèbre, ou bien le film Piotruś i wilk [fr. : Pierrot et le loup] avec la musique de Prokofiev exécutée en directe par un orchestre.  

Dans le cadre de son objectif de propager la culture musicale, la Fondation s'intéresse aussi à l'éducation des enfants et des jeunes.

En 2005, pendant le Festival, la Fondation a organisé un cours de vocalise de maîtrise de quinze jours, avec le soutien de la vocalisatrice fameuse Grace Bumbry. Cette artiste a choisi elle même six jeunes vocalisateurs qu'elle a enseignés pendant deux semaines. Elle a effectué un cours démonstratif avec leur participation, ouvert pour le public, prenant part ensuite au concert final.  

Parmi sept projets extraordinaires de festival, il faut remarquer surtout Ogrody Muzyczne Europy 2004 ainsi que le Festival Wiedeń w Ogrodach Muzycznych 2006 [fr. : Vienne dans les Jardins de musique 2006], réalisé à l'occasion de l'Année de Mozart avec la participation de Wiener MozartJahr et d'EuroArts.  

A partir de 2005, le Festival Ogrody Muzyczne est financé majoritairement du fonds de la Ville de Varsovie comme une de trois événements les plus importants dans le domaine de la musique (à côté de Wielkanocny Festiwal im. Ludwika van Beethovena [fr. : Festival de Paques « Ludwig van Beethoven] et Międzynarodowy Festiwal Muzyki Współczesnej „Warszawska Jesień" [fr. : Festival international de musique contemporaine « Automne de Varsovie »]) auxquels la Ville de Varsovie voudrait bien s'identifier.

En préparant son Festival, la Fondation coopère avec les institutions culturelles polonaises les plus importantes ainsi qu'avec des organisations pareilles dans le monde, comme p.ex. des distributeurs des programmes musicaux. A partir de 2006, la Fondation « Ogrody Muzyczne » est la deuxième institution polonaise, après la Télévision Polonaise SA, à joindre

IMZ International Music + Media Centre, organisation mondiale rassemblant des producteurs et des distributeurs des programmes musicaux, de ballet et de théâtre.

Le projet Dziecięce Ogrody Muzyczne [fr. : Jardins musicaux pour enfants] est une autre activité à part entière dont l'objectif concerne l'incitation artistique du potentiel des plus jeunes ainsi que l'éducation à travers les arts. Ce programme est réalisé sous les auspices de la Ville de Varsovie. Il est organisé aussi bien pendant le Festival en été qu'en hiver, au cours des vacances d'hiver. Jusqu'à présent, plus de quelques mils enfants ont pris part à cet événement.

A part le Festival « Ogrody Muzyczne », la Fondation organise d'autres événements artistiques importants. En 2002, la Fondation a réalisé une représentation tout à fait extraordinaire de l'opéra par George Gershwin, Porgy and Bess avec la participation des choeurs gospel et de quelques solistes formidables d'Amérique à Sala Kongresowa [fr. : Palais des congrès de Varsovie], la plus grande à Varsovie.

Le 1 octobre 2006, à l'occasion de la Journée internationale de la musique, la Fondation a organisé le concert d'Orquesta Sinfonica de Navarra e Pampeluna, la plus vielle orchestre symphonique d'Espagne, à la Philharmonie nationale à Varsovie.

Hormis le travail sur l'édition suivante du Festival d'été « Ogrody Muzyczne », la Fondation prépare des projets concernant l'oeuvre de Chopin pour commémorer la deux centième anniversaire, en 2010, de la naissance du compositeur. 

Ryszard Kubiak, créateur de la Fondation, est aussi auteur du projet de la création de l'Archive national de la musique et de l'image dont l'objectif concernerait le soutien de l'enregistrement audiovisuel des productions polonaises d'opéra, de ballet et des concerts de musique.  

The „Musical Gardens" Foundation was established in 2002, aiming to render culture and cultural events to a wide circle of public mainly with the use of audio-visual means.

Their founders, Ryszard Kubiak, a manager of culture and director; Zygmunt Krauze, a composer and pianist and Barbara Pietkiewicz, a television producer and ballet promoter tried out this idea in 2001, organizing the first edition of the "Musical Gardens" Festival which was then made up of presentations of significant audio - visual realizations of famous operas, ballets and music films. These presentations took place in a huge tent for over 1000 spectators and specially constructed at the Courtyard of the Royal Castle in Warsaw.

Since its first edition, the Festival, called by the press „the Warsaw Summer Music Salon", has been flourishing every year at the Courtyard of the Warsaw Castle, a tourist heart of the capital of Poland, attracting attention of ca 40 - 50.000 onlookers every year.

The above mentioned program principles of the Festiwal are now enriched by a film cycle called „The Description of the World", focused on the presentation of the civilizing and cultural output of the mankind, and public meetings with outstanding representatives of the Polish culture.

Among over 100 names of the Festival's guests, it is worth mentionning the following ones: Magdalena Abakanowicz, Grace Bumbry, Krystyna Janda, Maria Fołtyn, Olga Pasiecznik, Elżbieta Penderecka, Ewa Podleś, Katia Ricciarelli, Janusz Głowacki,  Ryszard Kapuściński, Kazimierz Kutz, Władysław Kłosiewicz, Rafał Olbiński, Andrzej Wajda , Krzysztof Zanussi and many others.

Also, live music, first associated with the "Passage", a cycle of contemporary chamber music concerts accompanying the Festival, takes a more and more remarkable place. 

In 2004, the Festival's guest star was Katia Ricciarelli.     

Since several years, the Festival has been drawing attention of significant Polish soloists and orchestras (Sinfonia Varsovia, The National Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Radio (NOSPR) under Kazimierz Kord, conductor and the National Philharmony Orchestra). Following the audio-visual character of the Festival, the organizers care that that live concerts are enriched with multi media elements. It is worth mentionning here such projects as: the "Polish Film Music" Gala and "Duda Gracz for Chopin". In the latter, projections of paintings of this well known painter are accompanied by Chopin's music, while in the animated film "Peter and the Wolf" the Prokofiev's music is performed live by an orchestra.

Within the frames of music dissemination, the Foundation also takes care of the education of children and teenagers.

During the Festival in 2005, the Foundation organized a two weeks master vocal course with the participation of Grace Bumbry, an outstanding opera singer. The artist had chosen six young singers and worked with them for two weeks.

Among till now seven extraordinary festival projects, it is worth mentionning the editions of the "Musical Gardens of Europe 2004" and "Vienna in the Musical Gardens 2006 Festival". The latter was realized in co-production with the Wiener MozartJahr and EuroArts.

Since 2005, the Musical Gardens Festival has been financed to much extent by the Capital City of Warsaw as one of the three great music entertainments (i.e, besides The Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival and the "Warsaw Autumn" International Festival of Contemporary Music) with which Warsaw wants to identify itself.

Organizing the Festival's editions, the Foundation cooperates with Polish major cultural institutions as well as worldwide organizations of this kind, such as, among others, distributors of music programs. Since 2006, the "Musical Gardens" Foundation, as the second, apart from the Polish Television S.A., institution in Poland, belongs to the International Music and Media Centre (IMZ), a worldwide organization assembling producers and distributors of music, ballet and theatre programs.

A separate educational activity of the Foundation is the project called The „Children Musical Gardens" the aim of which is to evoke artistic potential of the youngest generation and the education through the art. This program is realized under the auspices of the Capital City of Warsaw. It takes place during both, the Festival and winter holiday season. Till present, several thousands of children participated in this project.

Apart from the "Musical Gardens" Festival, the Foundation organizes single, significant artistic events. In 2002, it organized a wonderful, monumental realization of „Porgy and Bess" opera by George Gershwin with gospel choirs and American splendid soloists in the Kongresowa Hall which is the biggest concert hall of Warsaw.

On 1 October 2006, on the occasion of the International Music Day, the Foundation organized a concert of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Navarra from Pampeluna, the Spanish oldest symphonic orchestra.

Apart from the preparation to the next summer edition of the "Musical Gardens" Festival, the Foundation works on Chopin projects related to the forthcoming bicentenary of the composer's birth in 2010.

Ryszard Kubiak, the founder of the Foundation, is also the author of the project of the National Archive of Music and Picture, the realization of which would focus on the audio visual registration of Polish significant opera, ballet and concert productions.

* popularyzacja i upowszechnianie kultury i sztuki,
* wspomaganie instytucji artystycznych,
* wspomaganie szkolnictwa artystycznego,
* fundowanie koncertów, imprez, wydarzeń kulturalnych i artystycznych,
* fundowanie nagrań muzycznych i wydawnictw płytowych,
* fundowanie nut i partytur,
* promocja artystów i animatorów sztuki,
* popularyzacja i upowszechnianie wybitnych dzieł, twórców i wykonawców poprzez wykorzystanie nowoczesnych środków technicznych, w tym przekazu elektronicznego (kasety video, płyty DVD i inne).

Realizacja wyżej wymienionych zadań polega na finansowaniu - w części lub w całości - podjętych przez Fundację przedsięwzięć. Fundacja nie jest organizacją komercyjną.
